3D Printed Car For Just $1,770
Tech firm Sanya Si Hai, based in Sanya, China, utilized 3D printing to manufacture a driving vehicle capable of traveling at speeds up to 25 mph (40 km/h). Weighing in at 1102 pounds (500 kg), the vehicle was printed over a five day period with an estimated thirty day production period.
Chief Designer Chen Mingqiao explains "The density of the material is much lighter than that of the metal, only one-seventh or one-eighth." "Lighter weight will help save energy in the future."
